Art for me has always been a centering experience. The process liberates my thoughts and feelings; the silence created within allows my work to be heard. And when the piece is complete, I’m replenished and satisfied. I paint when I’m happy, I’m happy when I paint.

I seek texture and depth in my work; the mixed media creates dimension. The painting begins with a layer of combed sand texture gel on canvas. The pencil sketch underneath is revealed after the gel dries. Oil paints are applied based on the sketch. While the paint is still wet, oil pastels are rubbed lightly onto the canvas. The pastels adhere to the sand particles in the gel. The mosaic is created by coloring in the raised squares with varying pastels.
